“Expo-bâches becomes Texwork®”
Three questions for Sébastien Ferrari.
Sébastien Ferrari shares his feelings about the 2006 salon, outlines the next one, planned for 2008, and gives us the low-down on the name change.
> How do you see Expo-bâches 2006 now?
The good figures of 2006 Expo-bâches show we had clearly bounded ahead, and we are very pleased that the three new elements of the salon were perceived and appreciated by exhibitors and visitors alike. Firstly, the choice of Strasbourg was unanimously acclaimed. Changing a venue is not so simple but our efforts were rewarded. As for the aim of internationalizing the salon — there again the aim was to make Expo-bâches a truly European event — the fifty-two nationalities who attended showed that we’d hit the bulls-eye. Lastly, the various activities and the new Platinium programme contributed in no small way to the success of the salon. Changing the name is a way of marking this success, it's a milestone.
> How does the new Texwork® name better illustrate what the salon is about?
Three issues made us move. We needed to reflect the international character of the salon — not so easy with a French-sounding name. We also needed to highlight the salon’s expansion into all the technical-textile fields, notably architectural fabrics. Lastly we wanted to express the professional character and the working ambience that reign — the salon is becoming the main rendezvous for the whole technical-textile sector. Texwork® embodies these three points very well.
> What are you planning for 2008?
Lots of ideas that all aim to build on, and improve, the 2006 salon. First off, we're going back to Strasbourg. Next, we're going to branch out into new professional spheres to expand and enrich our Platinium activities. More manufacturers will be able to take advantage of these formulas to enhance their technological know-how in a working environment. Lastly, we carried out a very instructive visitor poll that will be used as a basis to implement other improvements, including information for visitors, the scope of technologies on show, better access, etc. Our aim remains the same — helping players in our business meet and exchange ideas while discovering new techniques and processes. Texwork® is henceforth a reference in a sector where drive is often underestimated — the proof is its average growth twice as high as Europe’s GDP — a sector that has a capacity to constantly invent applications, plus an acute sense of responsibility. A variety of ongoing actions bear witness to this dynamism especially in recycling, training for young people and the general appeal of the business. Texwork® is becoming a shining showroom in a dynamic branch.
